CHOOSING ODB's entire production is harvested from plantations of the finest quality South American subtropical hardwoods. Trees are chosen for age, size and quality. Careful selection avoids unnecessary cutting, thus contributing to the preservation of the forest and the environment under the control and supervision of the Ministry of National Forest Service. CUTTING & DRYING Logs are cut into planks at our sawmills where they are fumigated and insecticides are applied to guard cut timber from insect attack, thus maintaining the planks to the highest quality. The lumber is then dried in Italian computerized kiln-drying machines, to obtain the best hygroscopic balance of the wood. STORING & WORKING The wood is then stored under cover and in some instances in air-conditioning to drain the stress and to level out the rate of humidity. Depending on the species of wood, storage can vary between 30 to 60 days. The wood is then worked in our main factories with high precision European machinery to ensure a perfect connection, tongue and groove and layout of the strips at right angles. QUALITY CONTROL Trained personnel classify the finished material in to Premium, Commercial or Third grades. Quality control is carried out manually using strict quality control guidelines. PACKING & SHIPPING The final product is packed in heat-shrinkable polyethylene to ensure that the product arrives in perfect condition. Packages are shipped on pallets directly to our client's warehouses where we can assist and supervise (upon request) the installation of the floorboards to allow the wood to perform at its best. |
